Go Green: World’s Largest Solar Parks

The concept of solar energy is not so much old. With the advancement in technology, people tried to find out new ways of energy and solar energy is considered as an important and innovated idea of energy. There are different countries in the world that are shifting to this mode of energy as this source of energy will save their huge cost in longer run. China, USA, UK, India, Russia, Pakistan and different other countries have so far shifted their different projects on solar energy. No doubt, the initial cost of this project is quite much but in the longer run, this thing will save the huge costs in different aspects. We have selected this article in order to discuss some largest solar parks of the world.

1. Gujrat Solar Park, India

This is considered as one of the largest solar parks of the world. Gujarat solar park is the name used for a group of solar parks being constructed in Gujarat, India. This makes Gujarat as Asia’s largest solar park hub. An interesting and important thing about Gujarat solar park is that this solar park is expected to save around 8 millions tons of carbon dioxide from being release into the atmosphere. This solar park will also save around 900,000 tons of natural gas.

The state of Gujarat expects to create more than 30,000 new jobs in solar energy sector. There are different types of research reports that have also shown this fact that it is also planning to launch a rooftop solar plant policy. In this policy the peoples will be encouraged to produce their own electricity and earn money by selling the surplus power to the state grid. This solar plant will be completed by the end of 2014 and is it is estimated that this plant will generate two third of India’s total 900MW solar power production.

2. Serbia Solar Park

This is also considered another largest solar park of the world. The total cost of this project has been estimated at 2 billion euro. This proposed solar park is expected to spread over 3,000 hectares of land and it would have an estimated capacity of 1,000 MWp. There are different types of research reports that have clearly shown this fact that the construction of this solar park will take time of around five years and it would require around 3,000 workers to build it. The company which has been assigned this project, selected to build the solar park in Serbia because it receives about 40 percent more solar radiation than other parts of southeast Europe.

3. Agua Caliente Solar Project, USA

This is also considered another big solar project. The total capacity of this solar project is around 397 MW and this solar project has been installed in Yuma Country, Arizona, using thin film solar panels.

4. Golmud Solar Park, China

This is also included in the list of largest solar parks of the world. The total capacity of this solar park has been estimated at 317.2 MW. This solar park is situated in Golmud, Qinghai province of China. The construction began on this project in 2009 and now this project if fully operational. This project won the 2012 China Quality Power Project Award.

5. Perovo Solar Park, Ukraine

This is also considered a big solar park project and is included in the list of largest solar parks of the world. The Perovo Solar Park is a 100 MW power station which is located at Perovo in Crimea, Ukraine. There are different types of research reports that have clearly shown this fact that it is the world’s fourth largest solar farm which is made up of 440,000 solar panels. This project is owned by Activ Solar.

6. Sarnia Photovoltaic Power Plant, Canada

This project is located near Sarnia, Ontario in Canada and is considered as one of the largest solar parks of the world. There are different types of research studies that have shown this fact that this project at one point was world’s largest PV plant with an installed capacity of 97 MWp. This plant is spread over a total area of 950 acres and contains about 966,000 square meters with around 1.3 million thin film plates.
