There are many places on the earth that are considered as the hottest places of the world as there is plenty of heat. These places are categorized according to the temperature that has been witnessed by those places. In fact, if we look back to the history, the hottest day on the earth has been recorded having maximum temperature of 57.8 C or 136 F by a meteorological station in El Aziza in 1922. Since then, this record breaking temperature has been exceeded many times in the world but there is no official or authentic data in support of this thing.

This thing must be noted that whenever there is need to record the atmospheric temperature, it is not the surface temperature but rather the air temperatures at about 5 feet above the surface in an enclosed shelter. This thing is also of great importance that the temperature sensor is not exposed to direct sunlight. There are different scientists around the world who are making continuous research studies in order to find out the reasons of rising temperature of the earth which is showing a continuous upward trend.

NASA and other scientific research institutes are capturing the surface temperatures by using different latest technologies. NASA has been capturing earth surface temperature data by using the Landsat 7 satellite. NASA has been successful in finding different facts about the rise in temperature on the earth. According to the findings of the NASA, the hottest surface temperature ever recorded keeps happening in the same area on the Lut Desert in Iran. According to the research conducted by NASA, the single highest land surface temperature recorded in any year, in any region, occurred in Lut Desert in 2005, and at that time it was recorded at 70.7 C. This temperature is hot enough to fry an egg.

During the 2003 European heat wave, there were about 50,000 people who died.

It is said about the earth that over two third of its surface is covered in water from the oceans. The remaining portion of the earth is mainly exposed as dry land, on which we live, but one third of this dry land is dry enough and this portion is known as desert.
